UH Library Mission Statement

DASD READ

The mission of the library program in the Downingtown Area School District is to provide a dynamic learning environment that instills essential 21st century literacy skills through direct and collaborative instruction and the use of a wide variety of print and digital resources.  Our goal is to ensure that students have the opportunity to become inquiring and engaged global citizens who are empowered to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.

Makerspace Vision Statement

The Uwchlan Hills Elementary Library is a welcoming place where students can work together, create, discover, and explore in a common space.

STEM in the Library

As a prelude to things to come in the 2017-2018 school year, a modified Makerspace is being created in the Library for use by fourth and fifth graders in May.  The focus will actually be STEAM related:  Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math.  Students will have the opportunity to explore, create, and problem-solve during a short window of time when book selection occurs.
